They perform better like other normal children if they get someone to take care of them.

Parents with former street kids are urged to follow their children since they need love and special monitoring because of the difficulties they underwent.

Those children need special surveillance because they acquire bad habits while on streets

Most of them behave in an unusual way, being aggressive, angry, and disrespectful among other bad habits.

Fortunately those children become good citizens, whenever they get someone to take care of them.

Different testimonies from former street kids indicate that those children shouldn’t be left behind, because many of them go to street thinking they are escaping the difficult living conditions in their families.

Habimana Jean Paul commonly known as Kibihira, is one of the former street kids who left the street thanks to Caritas Kigali’s Abadacogora-Intwari Centre.

He says that when he was still on street he couldn’t imagine that he would live a normal life after leaving the street.

Habimana says that after leaving the street he engaged himself in studying the welding profession, thanks to the skills acquired, he started a welding workshop in Gisozi’s small and medium enterprises locally known as Agakiriro.

A street kid, according to Habimana, can perform better like other normal children if they get someone to take care of them.

“The street kid can become an accountable citizen responsible for his family in particular and society in general” says Habimana.

“My piece of advice to parents with former street kids is to take care of them and help them changing their life style, it is possible, I am a good example” He adds.

Mushimiyimana Renilde, one of parents the parents with former street kids, says that their children went back to schools and perform better after leaving the street

“My child is a good example. He made a change, he went back to school and perform better. I’m sure he will become a responsible man” Mushimiyimana says.

Caritas Kigali’s Abadacogora-Intwari centre which offer shelter to street kids as part of the therapy before rehabilitating them in their families also assure that those kids can become accountable citizen if parents take care of them.
