Caritas Kigali’s suggests parents to fulfil their education responsibility to prevent children go on street

Caritas Kigali’s Abadacogora-Intwari Center suggests parents to fulfil their education responsibility to prevent children go on street.

Parents whose children were on street before being rehabilitated by this center were urged to be responsible and take care of their children’s education.

One of the root causes which incite children to go on street irresponsible parents who never take care of their children.

Josiane Mushashi, the coordinator of Abadacogora-Intwari center says that they train parents in order to remind them their responsibilities towards children.

“We rehabilitate street children but whenever parents do not take their responsibilities in taking care of those children, they may go back on street after being rehabilitated” says Mushashi.

This is the reason why Abadacogora-Intwari center provide training to parents whose children were on street to encourage them to take care of their children in case they are sent back in families.

Goreth Niyikuza says her two children went on street because of poverty in family. But she also acknowledge that her irresponsibility towards children also pushed her children to go on street.

She adds that thanks to the training she afforded to know the way she should treat her children satisfying at least their basic needs.

Parents also got training on family planning methods, in order to give birth to children they can afford to raise.

They were also trained on the ways of helping former street children change mindset and behaviors.
